(Dec 2006) Duesenberg Custom Coach has announced that the Duesenberg II® Murphy Coupe is being resurrected, built on a Ford drive train. They also announced that a "Duesenberg Torpedo® Coupe" was in the works with a Aug 2007 (was Jan 2007!) market introduction planned. A 70 mpg, 300 HP, 12 cylinder power plant is claimed! According to supercars.net, it will be based on a Mercedes CLS500 platform.

(Aug 2005) Several new applications for trademarks have been filed by "Duesenberg LLC" of the same address as the troubled "Duesenberg Motors, LLC." The new applications cover "It's a Duesey" and "Duesenberg" to refer to scale model cars (!), jewelry, perfume, and several other categories. The filings were earlier this year.
(2004) A recent article in Autoweek (Jan 5, 2004, p 7) painted a dim picture for the future of "Duesenberg Motors Inc." Dave Hartje, president of the company, said that he is looking for someone to take the Duesenberg name and either produce a new car, or to continue to build reproduction cars. The Duesenberg II® hasn't been produced since about 2000. Hartje bought the business, and with it, the Duesenberg name, in 1996. I did a trademark search on Duesenberg through the USPTO. The search turned up 18 hits, of which 7 were still active. "Auburn Cord Duesenberg" in various flavors (Club or Museum) count for three of the active ones. Duesenberg® Guitars are played by ZZTop and the Rolling Stones! The Duesenberg Eagle trademark is also registered. The Duesenberg® clothing, ("namely head wear, shirts, sweaters, jackets, pants, shorts, ties and belts") and the Duesenberg II® automobile trademarks are both owed by Duesenberg Motors.
